Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer with Australian commercial law experience. The successful candidate will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters, supporting businesses with contract drafting and negotiation, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, risk management, and general legal advisory services.

This role is ideal for a proactive lawyer who enjoys working closely with clients, providing strategic legal guidance, and managing diverse commercial matters across the board. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal services while building trusted client relationships and ensuring commercially sound outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements, including service agreements, supply agreements, consultancy agreements, shareholder agreements, confidentiality agreements, distribution agreements, licensing agreements, and terms and conditions.

• Provide practical legal advice on Australian commercial law, contract law, and general business matters.

• Advise clients on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial risk management.

• Assist with business acquisitions, sales, restructures, and other corporate transactions.

• Conduct legal research and prepare legal advice, memoranda, and correspondence.

• Identify legal risks and provide commercially pragmatic solutions.

• Liaise directly with clients, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.

• Assist with corporate governance matters, including company constitutions, shareholder resolutions, and board documentation.

• Maintain legal precedents, templates, and internal knowledge resources.

• Manage multiple client matters while ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality legal work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent legal qualification.

• 3+ years' experience practicing commercial law with Australian clients or within an Australian law firm.

• Demonstrated experience advising Australian businesses on a broad range of commercial law matters.

• Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.

• Sound knowledge of Australian contract law, corporate law, and general commercial legal principles.

• Experience advising on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial risk management.

• Excellent commercial acumen with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills.

• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

• Experience working remotely with Australian clients or legal teams is highly regarded.
